Lexa Hooten, Library Services Administrator for Knox County Schools, is a thirty-three year veteran educator. She received her undergraduate degree in English and History from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. Her MSLIS degree and her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision are both from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Professional Affiliations: Tennessee Association of School Librarians; TENN-SHARE (statewide resource-sharing organization); Center for Children's and Young Adult Literature, Board of Directors; UTK School of Information Sciences, Alumni Board of Directors; Pellissippi State Community College, School and Community Advisory Board; Tennessee Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development; Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development; National Staff Development Council; and Phi Delta Kappa. Jill Keally has worked in academic libraries since graduating with her MLS from the University of Tennessee, School of Information Sciences. In addition to her current position as Head, Library Support Services, she has held a variety of library management positions including Head of InterLibrary Services, Acting Head of Circulation, and Interim Head of Technical Services. She is an ex-officio member of all Library Faculty Search Committees and has been active, both on campus and with the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), with regard to compensation, recruitment and diversity initiatives. |
Dr. Mike Pemberton![]() Professor |
Personal Web Site Mike Pemberton has been a faculty member in information management at two universities and has also served as a librarian, an archivist, a records manager, and a consultant. For the last twenty-three years, he has been on the faculty of the School of Information Sciences (SIS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), the state’s senior, public, Research I university. Pemberton is an internationally recognized writer and presenter. He has authored over 127 publications (books, articles, proceedings, reviews) and made 85 invited presentations on topics in information management. He is the Executive Editor (1998 - ) of Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) Information Management Journal (IMJ), an international, interdisciplinary, refereed journal. A native of Nashville, Pemberton graduated from the University of the South (Sewanee) with a B.A. in 1964. He has an M.A., an MLS, and a Ph.D. He is married and has two adult children, one of whom, Anne E. Pemberton , is an SIS graduate and the third family member in successive generations to become an information professional. |

LISJobs.com is a great resource for library and information science jobs. Look under "Advice" to find information on interviewing, job statistics, salaries, specialties within the profession, and so forth.
Library Job Posting on the Internet offers links to job resources such as Advanced Information Consultants, Inc., Free Pint Jobs, and Librarian Job Board. Each job resource listing contains the URL, Scope of the jobs posted, update schedule, sponsor and instruction for using the resource to find library or information jobs.
UT Career Services offers UT students and graduates career tips, resume review, workshops, online training, and job search advice. Check their page frequently for new events each month. Distance Education people may utilize all their services as well, just contact them for specifics.
