POLS 324 - Economics/Environment PBL

Based on today's readings and the materials handed out at the start of class (and any other web resources you decide to utilize), you should tackle the following questions. BUT, please note that the class has been divided in two: industrialized countries and less developed countries. As such, you must take on the perspective of your assigned group as you work together to develop answers and solutions.

• What are your primary interests relating to global warming and its economic impacts?
• Which interests are private and which are more public in character (re: remember the readings for the Kaul book)?
• What criteria SHOULD be used to evaluate solutions to the problems at hand?
• What criteria do you think WILL be used to evaluate the issues at hand?
• Is there any room for negotiated compromise? Where and in what form?
• What does your group advocate as a strategy for coping with this set of issues?

After you have met in your groups and discussed this set of issues, please be prepared to write your group's approach on the board for discussion during the second portion of the class.
