GIS and Geospatial

AI-GEOSTATS
Sponsored by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, AI-GEOSTATS provides a gateway to geospatial information.
Coastline Extractor, National Geophysical Data Center
Extracts coastline segments bounded by a specified latitude/longitude range and plots the extracted coast.
Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) GIS Data
The Connecticut DEP provides GIS data available for download. GIS feature data is in Shapefile format and raster data (imagery) is in MrSid format. All files are in .exe format for easy downloading. Each dataset is in the Connecticut NAD83 Coordinate System.
GEO Data Portal
Authoritative source for data sets used by UNEP and its partners in the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) report and other integrated environment assessments. Online database holds 400+ different variables such as national, subregional, regional, and global statistics or as geospatial data sets (maps), covering themes like Freshwater, Population, Forests, Emissions, Climate, Disasters, Health and GDP.
Geography Network
Provides access to geographic content from hundreds of organizations around the world. Content ranges from dynamic map services viewed online to static geographic data sets that can be downloaded for use with mapping software.
Global Land One-km Base Elevation (GLOBE) Project, NGDC
A 30-arc-second (1 km)-gridded, quality-controlled global Digital Elevation Model (DEM) (select "Get GLOBE Data").
GRID-Arnedal: Online GIS and Maps Database
GIS and maps available for download or use. A creation of the Government of Norway and UNEP following the 1987 World Summit on Environment and Development, located in Arendal, Norway.
GTOPO30, USGS
Global digital elevation model (DEM) with a horizontal grid spacing of 30 arc seconds (approximately 1 kilometer). GTOPO30 was derived from several raster and vector sources of topographic information. Completed in late 1996, GTOPO30 was developed over a three year period through a collaborative effort led by staff at the U.S. Geological Survey's EROS Data Center (EDC).
Map and Geographic Information Center (MAGIC)
MAGIC's Web site is a library of digital geospatial information. The data available are in the public domain. MAGIC collects data that primarily relate to Connecticut. All data have either been processed in-house, or were received for public use. Data available include general layer data (e.g., roads, soils, railroads, hydrography) from several sources, Census data (including TIGER files), and aerial photographs.
National Atlas, USGS
In addition to providing high-quality, small-scale maps, the Atlas includes authoritative national geospatial and geostatistical data sets. Examples of digital geospatial data include soils, county boundaries, volcanoes, and watersheds. The Atlas includes easy-to-use online interactive maps.
National Digital Map Library, University of Virginia Library
Collection of digital maps created at the Geospatial and Statistical Center using public domain data sets. Coverages available from the DLG data are: State Boundary, County Boundaries, National Parks and Forests, Hydrography, and Major Cities.
University of Connecticut Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (UCCGIA)
The mission of the Center is to advance the use of geographic data and spatial analytic techniques in research, teaching, and service at the University of Connecticut and in the region it serves.
