Own a Unique Issue of The New Yorker!
Noted wood scupltor John Magnan is creating, as one of his classic books, a special volume that will
incorporate images and signatures of Liza Donnelly and Michael Maslin.
This issue will be offered in a silent auction that will end shortly
after the public program on April 20.
John Magnan lives and works in the heart of the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. A lifelong woodworker, he studied art at the Maryland Institute, College of Art and earned his MFA at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. His work has been featured on CBS News Sunday Morning and several pieces are on permanent display at the UConn Library and Dodd Reasarch Center. The piece for auction has been created especially for this event and can seen below. If you would like further information about the book or the auction, please contact Linda Perrone. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Libraries’ Exhibit program.
Liza Donnelly’s most recent books, Funny Ladies: The New Yorker’s Greatest Women Cartoonists and their Cartoons (2005) and Sex and Sensibility: Ten Women Examine the Lunacy of Love in 200 Cartoons , along with Regina Barreca’s recent books will be on sale. Also on view will be the exhibit, “His & Hers: New Yorker Cartoons,” featuring samples of their work in the Dodd Center’s West Corridor.
